Erectile Dysfunction Treatment

What is erectile dysfunction?

An erection occurs when the brain produces nitric oxide that leads to a series of chemical reactions in the blood vessels that result in 6 times the blood flow getting trapped in the penis.

When someone experiences erectile dysfunction, there is an imbalance between the chemicals that make the penis hard and the chemicals that return it to being soft again. This results in being unable to get or maintain an erection.

How does erectile dysfunction treatment work?

Erectile dysfunction medication interferes with the process that allows blood to leave the penis.

To give you a stronger erection, the medications block or inhibit the chemicals that return the penis to being soft again, creating firmer and longer-lasting erections.

How can you get treated for ED?

At Roman, we use telemedicine technology and U.S. licensed physicians to make erectile dysfunction treatment accessible, convenient, and discreet.

It starts with an online doctor visit that collects your health history and symptoms and flags any areas of concern so that your Roman-affiliated doctor (not an AI robot) can carefully evaluate if medication is right for you.

If you’re ready for your online doctor’s visit, you can get started for free, today.

Your treatment plan

Your treatment plan will include a great deal of information about ED. It is important you take the time to read it all. You will be better prepared to manage your condition as a partner—and not just a patient. Also, erectile dysfunction is often a symptom of a more serious underlying condition—like heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, or even depression. We recommend optional laboratory tests but you do not need to get them to receive treatment - but it can be one of the best things you can do for your health in the long run. If there’s anything that requires further evaluation, we will let you know to follow up with your primary care physician or a specialist.
