What do I need to know before completing this at-home test?

It’s very important that you:

  • 1. Complete the Test Kit within 1 month of receiving it
  • 2. Do not eat or drink anything but water starting 8 PM the night before you plan to complete the test
  • 3. Take the test in the morning, before 10 AM
  • 4. Ship your completed Test Kit back the same day that you complete the blood draw

Why do I have to complete my Testosterone Test Kit before 10 AM?

Timing is essential for measuring your total testosterone because hormone levels naturally fluctuate throughout the day. A morning measurement ensures that your test is providing an accurate picture of your baseline total testosterone.

When (and how) do I have to ship back my completed Test Kit?

You must ship your completed Test Kit back the same day you collect the blood sample. If too much time passes between when your sample is collected and when it reaches the lab, it will no longer be viable for processing and you’ll have to start over. A prepaid shipping label is included in your order to send it back.

When will I get my results?

How do I collect my blood sample?

Our Test Kit involves a capillary blood sample collection. That means putting on a finger compressor, pricking your finger, and then collecting 10-15 drops of blood in a sterile tube. We’ll send all the equipment you need and provide step-by-step video instructions (and a phone stand for hands-free guidance).

Why does this Test Kit require a capillary blood sample?

A capillary blood sample will give a reliable measurement of the total testosterone level in your blood. The accuracy of a capillary sample (taken from your finger) is comparable to the accuracy of a venous sample (taken from your arm).

Can I talk to a doctor about my results through Roman?

Does the Testosterone Test Kit ever expire?

Yes. You must complete and return your Testosterone Test Kit within 1 month of receiving it, otherwise the lab will reject your sample and you’ll have to order a new Test Kit and start over.

Why do I only have 1 month to complete my Test Kit?

Your Test Kit comes with a temperature monitor in the box, to help ensure that your sample is kept stable on its way back to the lab. This monitor will eventually run out of battery, and the quality and stability of your sample is no longer guaranteed, making your results unreliable. For this reason, the lab will reject samples collected over 1 month after the Test Kit was delivered.

What happens if the lab rejects my blood sample?

If the lab rejects your blood sample for any reason, we’ll refund your original test and you can place a new order to try again whenever you are ready.Some reasons your sample might be rejected: you did not ship the sample back the same day you completed your blood draw, were not able to collect enough blood, or did not complete your Test Kit within 1 month of receiving it.

What if I have a history of fainting/getting sick during blood draws?

The good news is that our blood sample method only requires a finger prick and about 10-15 drops of blood. But we always recommend drinking lots of water beginning the night before your blood draw and having a snack ready to eat immediately following your blood draw.If you’re very concerned, consider having a member of your household or a friend nearby when you use your Kit. And remember; for any issues with your Kit, you can connect with a live support agent any time in 10 seconds or less–they’re just a click away.Although extremely unlikely, if at any point you think you are experiencing a medical emergency, be sure to call 911 or the nearest emergency department for immediate assistance.

Are at-home test results trustworthy?

Additionally, your sample will be processed and results will be provided by a lab that’s CLIA-certified and accredited by the College of American Pathologists (a leading organization in setting clinical medicine standards).

Do I get to keep my Kit?

Does the Testosterone Test Kit diagnose low testosterone?

The single testosterone measurement can help you determine whether or not to further investigate the potential cause of your symptoms with an in-person healthcare provider.However, to be diagnosed with low testosterone, you need to have at least two readings taken on different days (due to natural hormone fluctuation), and these results need to be considered in the context of any signs or symptoms you may be experiencing.

Can I get testosterone treatment through Roman?

We are not able to diagnose or treat low testosterone at this time—that means we do not offer Testosterone Replacement Therapy (exogenous testosterone) or any other prescription medication that may be used to treat low testosterone.
